Citroen has introduced a new lease plan for the Ami electric car

Citroen Ami

The Citroen brand of the Stellantis group is the first to offer a subscription car rental service, either with or without a long-term commitment. The promotion is now only available on three models (Ami, C3 and e-C4); however, that may change soon.

Adapting to new technologies has altered consumer habits. One of them, digital, has been boosted by a health issue. Citroen has introduced "Citroen On Demand" through the Free2Move group's mobility brand in response to this growing need. This is an innovative service where the car rental contract is entirely digital. Interacting with customers is conducted online (choice of model, duration, mileage, payment, etc.). In addition, there is no need to travel to the dealership since the car is brought to the customer and returned to the lot at their convenience.

This rental service, which debuted on November 22, is initially only available for three Citroen models: the Citroen Ami license-free quadricycle, the Citroen C3, and the Citroen e-C4 electric car. The manufacturer assured us, however, that others would eventually finish the panel. Customers can choose between two plans: one that requires a commitment of 3, 6, or 12 months and another that does not. The latter may have more flexible leases but at a significantly higher cost.

For example, if you want to rent a Citroen Ami electric quadricycle for six months at 850 km/month, you should budget €260/month plus a €520 security deposit. The same model can be leased month-to-month for €390 plus a security deposit of €780. The monthly installments (ranging from €72.45 to €115.50) are calculated without insurance, and the manufacturer charges €250 for delivery. If you're looking to hire the top-of-the-line C4, an electric vehicle, you'll have to shell out €1,209/month for a non-binding offer with a flat rate of 2,350 km/month (without including insurance).

Consequently, a no-commitment offer is pricey, despite the manufacturer's defense that it is tailored to the needs of people who need a car quickly (for the holidays, for instance). A firm representative told L'Argus, "In this scenario, picking this offer is cheaper than going through a standard rental company." Assuming you do not leave France, the only country where this service is currently available, some requirements must be met to qualify: age 21 or older with at least three years of driving experience is required.
