MINI John Cooper Works 1to6 Edition: A Rare Gem for Track Enthusiasts

The MINI John Cooper Works 1to6 Edition is a special model that combines the performance of a race car with the charm of a classic hatchback. Only six units of this limited-edition model were built, and they all participated in the 24-hour race on the Nürburgring in June 2023. The race was a success for the MINI John Cooper Works 1to6 Edition, as it finished second in its class and impressed with its speed and reliability.

What makes the MINI John Cooper Works 1to6 Edition special?

The MINI John Cooper Works 1to6 Edition is based on the standard MINI John Cooper Works. However, it has been modified by the Bulldog Racing Team, a German tuning company specializing in MINI models. The team has enhanced the car's engine, suspension, brakes, aerodynamics, and interior to make it more suitable for track use.

The engine is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that produces 306 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque. It is paired with a six-speed manual transmission that delivers power to the front wheels. The transmission has been upgraded with a short shifter, a limited-slip differential, and a lightweight flywheel. The engine also features a larger intercooler, a sports exhaust system, and an optimized ECU.

The suspension has been lowered by 30 millimeters and fitted with adjustable coil-overs, stiffer anti-roll bars, and camber plates. The brakes have been upgraded with larger discs, six-piston calipers, and steel braided lines. The wheels are 18-inch forged alloys wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires.

The aerodynamics have been improved with a front splitter, a rear wing, and side skirts. The bodywork has been painted in British Racing Green with white stripes and red accents. The car also has LED headlights, taillights, and fog lights.

The interior has been stripped of unnecessary weight and equipped with Recaro bucket seats, a roll cage, a fire extinguisher, and a digital instrument cluster. The car also has a sports steering wheel, aluminum pedals, carbon fiber trim, and red stitching. The car weighs only 2,822 pounds, which is 220 pounds less than the standard MINI John Cooper Works.

How does the MINI John Cooper Works 1to6 Edition perform?

The MINI John Cooper Works 1to6 Edition is a fast and agile car that can handle any track challenge. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 5.1 seconds and reach a top speed of 155 mph. It can also lap the Nürburgring Nordschleife in 8 minutes and 4 seconds, which is faster than some sports cars.

The car has responsive steering, a precise gearbox, and a balanced chassis, making it fun to drive. The engine delivers strong power throughout the rev range and sounds great with the sports exhaust. The suspension absorbs bumps well and keeps the car stable in corners. The brakes are powerful and fade-resistant.

The car also has three driving modes: Sport, Track, and Race. Sport mode sharpens the throttle response, stiffens the suspension, and enhances the exhaust sound. Track mode turns off the traction control and stability control systems for more driver involvement. Race mode activates a launch control function for optimal acceleration from a standstill.

How much does the MINI John Cooper Works 1to6 Edition cost?

The MINI John Cooper Works 1to6 Edition is not cheap, as it costs €69,900 (about $84,000) in Germany. That is more than twice as much as the standard MINI John Cooper Works, which starts at €33,900 (about $40,800). However, considering the rarity and exclusivity of this model and its extensive modifications and performance enhancements, it may be worth it for some hardcore MINI fans.

The car is also eligible for homologation in various racing series around the world, such as the TCR International Series or the VLN Endurance Championship. This means that owners can participate in official races with their cars if they wish.

Is the MINI John Cooper Works 1to6 Edition worth buying?

The MINI John Cooper Works 1to6 Edition is a unique and exciting car that combines the heritage and character of MINI with the thrill and challenge of racing. It is only a car for some, as it is expensive, impractical, and uncompromising. But for those who love driving on tracks and appreciate the history and culture of MINI, it is a dream come true.

The car is also a collector’s item that will likely increase in value over time due to its scarcity and significance. Only six units were built, each with its own serial number from one to six. Professional drivers from different countries drove the cars during the 24-hour race on the Nürburgring, where they showcased their potential and endurance.

The MINI John Cooper Works 1to6 Edition is a tribute to John Cooper, the legendary British racing driver, and engineer who created the original Mini Cooper in the 1960s. It is also a testament to the passion and creativity of the Bulldog Racing Team, who transformed an ordinary hatchback into an extraordinary race car.

The MINI John Cooper Works 1to6 Edition is more than just a car; it is an experience that will leave you breathless.
