Ford opens solar park in Valencia, Spain

As an essential component of Ford's extensive CO2 reduction goals, the automaker's factory in Valencia, Spain, has recently been home to a brand-new solar park. It is anticipated that by 2035, all Ford factories, suppliers, and distribution will be CO2 neutral.

The new solar park at Ford's factory in Spain encompasses two sizable areas. It can generate an annual output of 4,641-megawatt hours of electricity, sufficient to meet the needs of 1,400 Spanish households. The new solar park will already be enlarged by this summer, so annual production will increase by an additional 3,762-megawatt hours.

"More than ever, we are in desperate need of sources of renewable energy. This new solar park in Valencia is an important contribution to Ford's journey toward an electric future in which the company will be self-sufficient in renewable energy and carbon neutral by 2035." According to Stuart Southgate, who works for Ford of Europe as a Sustainable Environmental and Safety Engineer.

Ford is currently researching the prospect of further expanding the solar park to boost the maximum capacity from 2.8 mWh to 10 mWh in 2024. They are also considering adding solar cells to the factory roof. In 2024, the maximum capacity will be increased from 2.8 mWh to 10 mWh.

The transition to an electric future is underway at Ford, which is making great strides. The previous year, Ford revealed several of its ambitious ambitions, one of which was the announcement that the company intends to debut nine electrified automobiles before the year 2024 is over.

Ford is making continuous efforts to contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions. For instance, in the fall, Ford Motor Company signed a contract to deliver low-carbon steel for use in manufacturing Ford vehicles.
