Garmin integrates dashcams into their car and RV navigation systems

Garmin is releasing two unique GPS units, the DriveCam 76 and the CamperCam 795. The 7-inch systems also include an HD camera and the standard Garmin navigation features for cars and RVs. The navigation systems monitor the road in real-time, so they can sound an alarm if the driver starts to glide out of their lane or gets too close to the car in front of them. The camera records eyewitness accounts of accidents to provide context for ongoing investigations. The Garmin DriveCam 76 and CamperCam 795 are great companions for long road trips or stressful commutes, thanks to their integrated GPS and dashcam. Furthermore, they reduce the time spent installing the product and the amount of real estate needed on the windshield.

The integrated 1080p camera has a horizontally adjustable lens that provides a 140-degree field of view, allowing for a clear picture of the road in front of you at all times. In the event of an accident, it immediately begins recording and saving the thirty-second clip to the 16 GB micro SD card that is already installed. Videos can be viewed in the navigation system's media library, accessed via the Garmin Drive app on the smartphone through a wireless local area network (WLAN), shortened and saved on the smartphone, deleted from the camera, and uploaded to the safe.

You can create a secure online vault called the Vault with the Drive app. The navigation system's recorded videos can be viewed on the smartphone for up to 24 hours, kept on the device, and safely shared with others by sending them an email with a link and a code. A more extended storage period can be purchased as an additional subscription. Not only does it record your journey for later review, but it also acts as a safety net by sounding an alarm if you veer out of your lane or if the gap between you and the car in front is too narrow, allowing you to drive more calmly and confidently.

The new Garmin DriveCam 76 is loaded with advanced features for convenient navigation. You can quickly enter the destination using the voice assistant or the regular touch input. Tripadvisor and Foursquare tips can be used to find exciting places to visit. In particular, the large 7-inch HD display makes it simple to read the route guidance on the editable 3D map of Europe featuring environmental zones. Along the way, you can accept real-time services that provide information on traffic, weather, fuel prices, and points of interest. The Garmin driver assistance system provides an extra layer of protection, complementing the dashcam-based features by providing instructions before difficult road sections.

It's essential to arrive relaxed and have fun on the trip if you're taking a mobile home for a holiday. Garmin CamperCam is a dash cam with features designed specifically for campervans. It can be used in your vehicle or a rented one. To provide accurate route guidance, Garmin's system analyzes your vehicle's dimensions, weight, and the presence or absence of a trailer. Additional protection is offered by driver assistance systems that sound alarms in dangerous situations like sharp turns, side winds, railroad crossings, and slopes or inclines. The built-in height profile encourages an anticipatory driving style and highlights potentially hazardous areas. You can hold both hands on the wheel at all times with the help of the hands-free Bluetooth feature and the built-in voice control.

Using Garmin Points of Interest (POIs), TripAdvisor and Foursquare reviews, and the Michelin Green Guide, arranging rest stops and sightseeing detours along the way is a breeze. Along the ride are the comprehensive campground guides from ACSI, Campercontact, and Trailer's PARK, all of which allow you to narrow down your search based on amenities like wifi, cable TV, and electric hookups. Birdseye satellite images can be used to find a parking spot by providing a bird's-eye view of the area and facilitating orientation.

Maps of Europe and South Africa, as well as points of interest and software, are updatable and can be updated fast and efficiently through a wireless local area network (WLAN).

The popular and user-friendly route planner supports importing and sharing GPX-formatted routes via a memory card or the Garmin Drive app. Additionally, the app provides access to services in real-time, such as traffic reports, weather forecasts, fuel prices, and reports of nearby mobile speed cameras. The Garmin CamperCam 795 MT-D EU with a DAB traffic receiver provides real-time traffic data without the need for a smartphone or app. When a DAB radio signal cannot be received, the Garmin navigation system automatically switches to receiving traffic information from the TMC.

Use the new Garmin Camper 795 in place of your existing dashcam if you don't want to buy a new one specifically for your motorhome. It has the same navigation features as the CamperCam 795 but lacks the latter's dashcam-based extras.

Vehicles that are difficult to see, like mobile homes but also many car models, benefit significantly from a reversing camera's ability to alleviate stress when parking or maneuvering.

The Garmin DriveCam 76 and the Garmin CamperCam 795 wireless models can be linked to a display and send images through a voice assistant or by pressing a button.

Garmin DriveCam 76 EU - 589.99 euros and Garmin Camper 795 EU - 439.99 euros.
