Revival of the Jiangnan brand is in progress. The Jiangnan U2 electric car will be used for this purpose, and it will be electric because this is a promising area for future growth. In China, the Jiangnan TT, a licensed version of the Suzuki Alto, has been quite successful since the company's inception in 2001 and subsequent purchase by Zotye in 2006. The super low-cost car version was Zotye's only selling point until the company went bankrupt in the fall of 2021.
Jiangnan's initial model will be the U2 5-seater electric sedan, which will lie at the bottom of the city car class thanks to its dimensions of 3840 millimeters in length, 1742 millimeters in width, and 1545 millimeters in height, as well as its wheelbase of 2521 millimeters. Jiangnan does not need to begin life again from square one. In all honesty, this U2 is nearly an exact copy of the Eezi Tech VC shown in Shanghai in 2021.
Remember that BAIC Ruixiang in Chongqing needs to manufacture this Eezi VC. It will also be sold under the BAIC group's subsidiary's own brand name, Hoen 02. So, the Jiangnan U2 electric city car is the third sibling in the family, but it has a very different front panel. Both the VC and the 02 are compact MPVs with a notably tiny front overhang. However, the early Alto / TT—of which an electric version was manufactured for a while—serves as a minor point of reference for the U2.
As of yet, there is no visual evidence of the interior, but it should look very much like the VC's, with a center screen that floats in midair and a minimalist instrument panel.
Traction is provided by either a 55 kW/120 Nm or 80 kW/160 Nm motor. Using LFP chemistry, the batteries will be available in two different capacities. The smallest range is 305 kilometers, while the longest is 406 kilometers. What is he worth? About $8,000 to $14,000.
This Jiangnan U2 electric car follows the BYD Dolphin and Wuling Bingo into a nearly nonexistent Chinese market sector before helping usher in a new MG3.
