The DS Automobiles in the Formula E World Championship

Last weekend marked the penultimate round of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, an all-electric car racing series. António Félix da Costa (DAC), a driver for DS, finished seventh and fifth, respectively, to earn valuable points for himself and the team. Jean-Éric Vergne (JEV), who finished in 14th place on Saturday, had terrible luck on Sunday, getting hit at the start of the race and having to pull out. DS Automobiles and the DS Techeetah racing team are currently third in the team classification heading into the final weekend in Seoul on August 13–14. Both of the DS drivers, JEV and his teammate, are currently in third place in the driver standings (DAC).

Last weekend's London E-Prix occurred in and around the city's famous ExCeL London exhibition center. António Félix da Costa, fresh off his win at the most recent New York E-Prix, added to the team's total with another strong weekend performance. The Portuguese driver went from 11th on the grid to seventh excellently using his experience and race management on Saturday. Jean-Éric Vergne (JEV), despite getting off to a great start, fell to 14th place on Saturday due to a series of mishaps.

António Félix da Costa and Jean-Éric Vergne improved their qualifying times dramatically on Sunday compared to the previous day. The Portuguese and French drivers of DS E-TENSE FE21 racing cars qualified in positions four and nine, respectively. António Félix da Costa finished in a strong position after a grueling 48-minute race. Staying out of trouble on a track where passing is tricky, he finished in a respectable fifth place. On the other hand, Jean-Éric Vergne had lousy luck: despite getting off to a good start, the multiple-time champion was rammed by another driver right at the beginning of the race. Because of what happened, he had to give up his career early.

António Félix da Costa's seventh and fifth-place finishes were hugely important for DS Automobiles, as they earned crucial points in the team classification and moved the Parisian premium automaker up to the third place. Jean-Éric Vergne is currently fourth in the driver standings, one spot higher than his Portuguese teammate, António Félix da Costa.
