The 2024 Chevrolet Traverse is different from your average family hauler. The midsize SUV has been completely redesigned for the new model year, with a more aggressive look, a new turbocharged engine option, and a first-ever Z71 off-road trim. The 2024 Chevrolet Traverse aims to appeal to a wider range of customers who want more versatility, performance, and style from their three-row crossover.
The Chevrolet Traverse is the third generation of the model that debuted in 2009 as one of the first crossovers to offer seating for up to eight passengers and a spacious cargo area. Since then, the Chevrolet Traverse has faced increasing competition from rivals like the Ford Explorer, the Toyota Highlander, and the Hyundai Palisade. To stand out from the crowd, the new Chevrolet Traverse adopts some design cues from its bigger sibling, the Chevrolet Tahoe, such as a taller front end, a larger grille, and a quad exhaust.
The 2024 Chevrolet Traverse also offers more choices for customers who want different driving experiences. The base engine is still a 3.6-liter V6 that delivers 310 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque, paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. However, for the first time, the Traverse also offers a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that replaces the previous 2.0-liter turbo. The new engine produces 255 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque and is available on the LT and RS trims.
The RS trim is the sporty option for the Chevrolet Traverse, with black accents, 22-inch wheels, and a unique suspension tune that provides better handling and responsiveness. The RS also comes with leather seats, a sunroof, and a trailering package.
