Ford is one of the world's leading manufacturers of commercial vehicles, with its Transit range being synonymous with reliability, versatility, and efficiency. Now, Ford is taking its vans to the next level with the introduction of the new Ford E-Transit, an all-electric version of its best-selling cargo van.
The new Ford E-Transit is designed to meet the needs of modern businesses that want to reduce their environmental impact, save on operating costs, and improve their productivity. The E-Transit offers a range of benefits over conventional diesel-powered vans, such as:
- Zero tailpipe emissions, which means lower carbon footprint, better air quality, and access to low-emission zones.
- Lower maintenance costs, thanks to fewer moving parts and less wear and tear.
- Lower fuel costs, thanks to cheaper electricity compared to diesel.
- Quieter operation, which reduces noise pollution and driver fatigue.
- Smart technology, which enhances safety, connectivity, and convenience.
The Ford E-Transit is available in a variety of configurations, including three body lengths, three roof heights, and three models: cargo van, chassis cab, and cutaway. It also offers two battery options: a standard-range battery with a usable capacity of 67 kWh and an extended-range battery with a usable capacity of 86 kWh. The extended-range battery is available only on the cargo van long and extended-length wheelbase models.
The E-Transit has a single electric motor that delivers 266 horsepower and 317 lb-ft of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in around eight seconds and has a top speed of 90 mph. The E-Transit has a maximum payload of up to 3,880 lbs for the cargo van model and up to 4,290 lbs for the chassis cab and cutaway models. It also has a maximum towing capacity of up to 2,000 lbs.
The new Ford E-Transit has a range of up to 126 miles for the cargo van low roof model, which is based on testing consistent with US EPA MCT drive cycle methodology. The range varies depending on the body configuration, driving conditions, vehicle use, upfits and alterations, vehicle maintenance, battery age, and state of health. Ford claims that the E-Transit's range is sufficient for most urban delivery routes, as the average daily mileage for US commercial vans is less than 74 miles.
